Deflector Shield Upgrade is a starship upgrade.

Summary[edit edit source]

Deflector Shield Upgrades, contained within Starship Shield Modules, are procedurally generated upgrades granting bonuses to the Deflector Shield of the starship.

Upgrade properties[edit edit source]

Deflector Shield Upgrades grant a varying bonus based on their class:

  • Shield Strength: Increases the Shield Absorption, indirectly increasing the Deflector Shield's durability up to 40% each.

This module can lead to confusion as a direct calculation would have players rather expect a +1.5 increase at 100% before accounting for starship shield class bonuses. This is not the case! The absorption uses the base factor of 0.5 to calculate the new strength which is then added to the base defense of 1 (SS=1+0.5*P% / 1+0.5*200%=2).

It is never a good idea to install B-Class shield upgrades, as they give a bonus no better than a C-Class upgrade. The better approach is to sell B-Class shield upgrade and use the proceeds to buy and install a C-Class upgrade, resulting in the same bonus on average, and additional left over for other uses.

Up to three Deflector Shield Upgrades can be installed in each inventory tab of the starship. Installing four or more upgrades in a given inventory tab will disable all upgrades of that type on that tab until the upgrade count is reduced to three or less.

Crafting[edit edit source]

Deflector Shield Upgrades can only be obtained from opening Starship Shield Modules.

Deflector Shield Upgrade can be repaired using the following ingredients:

  • Chromatic Metal x50 + Sodium x50 + Wiring Loom x1

Deflector Shield Upgrade can be dismantled after construction, returning the following ingredients:

Installing[edit edit source]

Slots

Upgrade modules follow a static progression. The generation seed is used for all module families at the same time. During module installations it goes up by one. The new module they change into correlates to their order of installation. If the game is reloaded, the exact same pool will be offered to the player, no matter the order they install other modules.

Example: If an S-class module had 200 ly Hyperdrive Range bonus on the third installation no matter in what order the former modules are installed or their class, if the same S-class module is used third again, it will once again be the 200 ly bonus module even if the name changes. Only if used second or fourth the module stat may change.

Discovered Upgrade Modules[edit edit source]

ID value can be established by using NMSSaveEditor, and this is the 'seed' that determines what bonuses this upgrade will provide.

AKA - ZukRequirements - 1 x Firecape

The Inferno is the successor to the Fight Caves – designed to be the most difficult solo challenge in the entire game. Like the Fight Caves, the player must battle through 68 waves which get increasingly more difficult until finally, you must beat the final boss of the Inferno – TzKal-Zuk.

It is possible to get The Inferno as a slayer task, which can help significantly reduce the difficulty of the challenge – but this slayer task will only be awarded to players who have already completed The Inferno at least once.

Upon completion of the Inferno, players will be awarded the Best in Slot melee cape in the game – the Infernal Cape.

The most common tactic for completion of The Inferno is to use Ranged. Ideally, a Ranged level of 90+ in combination with a Twisted Bow will allow most players – with a lot of practice and a bit of luck – to complete The Inferno.

It is highly recommended to only attempt The Inferno at a very high level, and with some of the best gear in the game. While it is possible to complete The Inferno at lower levels and with low-level gear, it is not for the faint-hearted!
